Visa Streams Under Subclass 186

Labour Agreement Stream

This stream is for skilled workers nominated by an employer who has a Labour Agreement with the Department of Home Affairs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nomination from an eligible employer with a Labour Agreement
  • If in Australia, hold a TSS or SID under the Labour Agreement
  • Positive skills assessment meeting Labour Agreement terms
  • English proficiency as required by the Labour Agreement
  • Meet health and character requirements

Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream

This stream allows temporary skilled workers holding a TSS or SID to transition to permanent residency.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have worked with the sponsoring employer for at least 3 years in the nominated position on a TSS (Subclass 482) or SID (Subclass 482)
  • Nomination from the eligible employer
  • Relevant skills and qualifications, with a positive skills assessment if required
  • Under 45 years of age (exceptions may apply)
  • Competent English proficiency
