Business Visitor Visa Australia
Subclass 600 Business Visitor stream planning for short business enquiries, meetings, contract discussions, conferences and other permitted business visitor activities.
When the Business Visitor stream may fit
This Visitor visa stream is for a genuine temporary business visit. It is not a substitute for a visa that permits employment or productive work in Australia.
Business visit or work?
The actual activities—not the job title—determine whether the stream is appropriate.
Common business visitor activities
Making general business or employment enquiries, investigating or negotiating a contract, attending a conference or seminar, or participating in an official government visit may fit if all requirements are met.
Activities that need another visa
Working for or providing services to an Australian business, selling goods or services directly to the public, or doing productive work generally requires a visa with suitable work rights.
Mixed-purpose travel
If the trip includes tourism, family visits and business events, explain the full itinerary and make sure each proposed activity is consistent with the requested stream.
Evidence that explains the trip
The application should make the commercial purpose, funding, timing and intention to leave understandable without relying on generic invitation wording.
- Invitation from the Australian organisation identifying attendees, dates and activities.
- Employer or business letter explaining the applicant's role and why the visit is required.
- Meeting agenda, conference registration, event program and realistic itinerary.
- Evidence showing who pays for flights, accommodation and daily expenses.
- Employment, business, financial and family reasons supporting departure after the visit.

Business Visitor visa questions
Can I attend a conference?
A conference, trade fair or seminar can be a permitted business visitor activity where the applicant is not being paid by the organiser to participate and the other requirements are met.
Can I do hands-on work after the meeting?
Do not assume so. Productive work or providing services to an Australian business usually requires appropriate work rights. Map each activity before applying.
Can a family member come with me?
Each traveller needs their own visa and must meet the requirements for the purpose of their visit. Family members are not automatically included in a Business Visitor application.
