The Genuine Student requirement applies to Student visa applications lodged on or after 23 March 2024. Earlier applications are assessed under the previous Genuine Temporary Entrant requirement.
The online application form allows up to 150 words for each Genuine Student response. Responses must be in English and should be supported by relevant documents.
Home Affairs states that future intentions to apply for permanent residence do not count against an applicant under the Genuine Student requirement. The primary reason for the Student visa must still be study.
